Brian here again; on behalf of the host organising committee, sharing updates for IOI 2022, as of Sunday 19 June (countdown: 7 weeks to go).
>> Contestant Virtual Machine
As described on the contest environment page (ioi2022.id/contest-environment/], for this hybrid IOI 2022, each contestant (regardless onsite or online) will use a virtual machine (called “Contestant VM”) during contests. This will be very similar to what we used for the online IOI 2020-2021.
We will release one or more preliminary versions of the VM image so that contestants can test it before the IOI week. Please check this page (ioi2022.id/contestant-vm-manual/) regularly to find more details and the release schedule. In particular, we have just released the first beta versiontoday, please do check it out.
>> Matrix (Communication)
We will use Matrix as one of the main communication platforms during the IOI week. Similar to the online IOI 2020-2021, it will be used for contest-related account distribution, meeting/assembly votings, task objections/translations, etc.
As stated in the registration system, TLs + DLs + Adjuncts (who translate/proctor) + Guests (who translate), need to register for a Matrix account. The link to register is in the registration system. Afterwards, you can log in using Element (i.e. a Matrix client, available on browser, Android, and iOS). To log in, change Homeserver to https://matrix.ioi2022.id, and then enter username and password.
It is very important to keep the Matrix account password secure, there is no way for us to reset/recover the password once it is forgotten. Please contact us immediately if you think you lost access to your Matrix account. To further clarify, note that the use of Matrix is applicable to TLs + DLs + Adjuncts (who translate/proctor) + Guests (who translate), regardless if they are onsite or online.
>> Reminders: Hybrid IOI & Register Now
This year, IOI is hybrid (i.e. some countries onsite, some countries online). Each team wishing to come onsite has to tick the check box within the TL’s registration entry. Each team has to choose to participate entirely onsite or online. We are still open for requests (with strong reasons) for a mix participation within a team until Thursday 23 June and will announce our decision latest by Sunday 26 June.
Please register as soon as possible before Friday 1 July via the usual registration system. We also welcome guests at an additional fee of 1500 Euros for a primary guest, and 1000 Euros for a secondary guest. Note that, unless of different gender or requested otherwise, TLs and DLs are going to share a twin room. If you have any other questions about registration, please send an email to email@example.com.
>> Updates: Visa, Arrival, To Yogyakarta
Again, please check these pages (ioi2022.id/visa/ and ioi2022.id/arrival-guidelines/) regularly. For those who are not eligible for VoA, we will assist you to apply for a Visa, after you complete your registration. We will announce the mechanism for you to submit additional documents required for the Visa application latest by Sunday 26 June.
As for vaccination and test requirements, we strongly encourage everyone in your team to be fully vaccinated (for most vaccines, that means 2 doses). Nevertheless, we are still in consultation with our COVID-19 Task Force for more details and potential relaxation for IOI, meanwhile let us know if you have any relevant particular situation.
The arrival/departure point for us is Yogyakarta International Airport. As we are aware of the on-going limited connecting/domestic flight options, we now recommend you to book flights from any airline (not limited to Garuda Indonesia and Citilink). As for potential land transport options, we will announce it latest by Sunday 26 June.
That is all for now. If you have any other and general inquiries, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. And follow our official social media accounts (Facebook: ioi2022id, Instagram: ioi2022id, YouTube: IOI 2022 Indonesia).
